Vadapalani Exnora Women’s Guild and Kidzee recently organised a special programme on consumer awareness at No.6/14, Bajanai Koil Street, K.M. Colony, Vadapalani.

J. Vijayathilagam, Co-ordinator, Consumer Advice Centre, Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, and R. Govindaraj, joint general secretary, Exnora International, were the special invitees.

Ms. Vijayathilagam began the session by talking about the most commonly used commodity and most adulterated product, which is water. She explained the need for using good quality products starting from those that meet our basic needs to electrical items such as appliances used for lighting the house and cooking, etc. She also stressed on the importance of carefully buying medicines from the pharmacy instead of blindly handing over the prescription to the pharmacist and buying the medicines given by him/her. Consumers should check the seals present on the package when buying, she added.
