Chennai doctor to head global neuropsychiatric body

Ennapadam S. Krishnamoorthy, a city-based neuropsychiatrist, has been chosen president elect of the International Neuropsychiatric Association (INA), a global grouping of doctors and scientists with a specific interest in disorders of the brain and mind.

Dr. Krishnamoorthy, who is the founder of Neurokrish, a neuropsychiatry group and Trimed, an integrative healthcare and rehabilitative chain, was unanimously elected by the assembly and executive committee of the INA at its 10th congress held in Jerusalem recently, a press release said. Dr. Krishnamoorthy becomes the first person from a developing country to lead the INA and will head it as president elect from 2015 to 2017 and president from 2017 to 2018. He has trained extensively in the brain and mind interface at the Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, University College London and has been instrumental in the development of various brain and mind rehabilitation models both in the non-profit and private sector. He has been the recipient of various honours and has authored two books and over 70 scientific papers and book chapters, the release said.
