Scholarship given to 18 students

A health camp organised by Chennai Port Trust at Sevapriya Trust, Kaladipet.

Chennai Port Trust, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, had invited students of Government Fine Arts College to sketch paintings on the features of Chennai Port.

Participants had depicted various features of the port in an exemplary fashion. The other activities include prize distribution to three top ranking students from nearby schools, health screening camp, and sapling planting .

These initiatives were inaugurated by the Union Minister for Shipping, G.K. Vasan at the port premises. The best three paintings were given cash awards, while other participants received a citation in recognition of the efforts that they had put in.

A health screening camp was organised at Sevapriya Trust, Kaladipet.

Also five government schools have been identified for grant of scholarships to meritorious students in board examinations. A grant of Rs.60,000 was distributed to 18 students as a scholarship.

Mr. Vasan also handed over compensation cheques to the families of 82 deceased employees to the tune of over Rs. three crore.

Chairman, Chennai Port Trust, Atulya Misra; Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Ennore Port Limited, Bhaskarachar; Vice-Chancellor, Indian Maritime University, Raghuram; Principal, Government Fine Arts College; Board of Trustees of Chennai Port Trust; senior officials of the Ministry of Shipping, employees of Chennai Port, members of the maritime fraternity, were present on the occasion.
