Book on Pranab Mukherjee in Tamil released

The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, releasing ‘Maamanidhar Pranab Mukherjee – Panmuga Saadhanaiyaalar.

The Tamil version of a book, ‘Pranab Mukherjee - 78: The All Season Man,’ ‘ Maamanidhar Pranab Mukherjee – Panmuga Saadhanaiyaalar, ’ was released on December 11 by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, at Rashtrapathi Bhavan, New Delhi, and the first copy was received by Raja Sundar Singh, Sam Prasad and Arul, Directors of the Chennai-based Eagle Press Publications.

The English work was compiled by Sukhendu Sekhar Roy and it was translated into Tamil by former Union Minister E. Ponnuswamy. The release function coincided with the 78th birthday celebration of the President.

The directors, in their address, said that the book treasures the President’s speeches in 15 titles including the Indo-US nuclear deal, 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack in 2008, India’s foreign policy and bilateral relationships. Also the book features the President’s life history and 330 rare photographs capturing significant moments of his political life.

Mr. Ponnuswamy, in his address, said “This is a book on a great personality who rose to being the President of India after holding several key positions for 37 years in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. It’s my privilege that I had the opportunity to translate the book, a must-read history for Indians. His life stands as an example for those who wish to come up and do great things in life”. On the occasion, Mr. Ponnuswamy welcomed the gathering and Mr. Sam Prasad proposed a vote of thanks.

The book, with 312 pages, which is priced at Rs.1,100 is available at a special offer price of Rs.800 till December 31, 2012, at Eagle Press Publications, 35 M.S. Kovil Street, Royapuram. For details, contact 2595 2696.
