Even as excitement over seeing the digitised ‘Superstar’ in the performance-capture 3D animation ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ grows, most fans are keeping a close watch on the developments related to his next film, ‘Lingaa’, being directed by K.S. Ravikumar.
Comedy actor Santhanam, who recently made his solo hero debut with ‘Vallavanukku Pullum Aayuthum’, has confirmed on Twitter that he is joining the cast of ‘Lingaa’. There are speculations that Rajinikanth will be playing a double role in the film, which seems plausible because of the presence of two leading ladies, Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha.
It is being speculated that while Santhanam could be the comedy sidekick for one of the two characters, the film’s crew is also trying to rope in another leading comedian. Reportedly, the first schedule of shooting for the film is nearing completion. Fans who have waited for nearly four years after ‘Endhiran’ to watch ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ may not have to wait for too long to catch ‘Lingaa’ as the shooting is proceeding at quite the pace.

Film-maker and actor R. Parthiban is well known for his creative publicity for his movies. For his upcoming feature, ‘Kathai, Thiraikathi, Vasanam, Iyakkam’, which goes with the tagline ‘a film without a story’, the director, in his inimitable style, has sent half-empty notebooks as invites to the media for the music launch of the film.
“We searched the entire film for the story, but now that search is yours,” he had written in the notebooks, inviting the media for the music launch on May 25.
There is already a positive vibe about the film as many are curious about what novelty Parthiban is bringing to the screen with the film that he has said is a tribute to 100 years of Indian cinema. Apart from introducing new stars in the film, the real USP, according to Parthiban, is the number of guest appearances in the movie: Cheran, Prakashraj, Vishal, Arya, Vijay Sethupathi, Vimal, Vidharth, Aatharva, Vikrant, Santhanu, Amala Paul and Tapsee. All the actors are supposed to be playing themselves.
The film has four songs composed by different composers: Vijay Antony, Sharath, Alphonse Joseph and S.S. Thaman. The background score is by newcomer Sathya.

Actor Delhi Ganesh, seems to be enjoying his little getaways to unheard-of villages for the ‘pattimandram’ he judges.
“I am invited for village temple festivals or for annual day events of associations and companies by the organisers. One thing that I have now learnt is that there is a lot of respect for pattimandrams and the speakers in the rural areas. At a village called Pon Amaravathi, near Karaikudi, the pattimandram began at 10 p.m. and ended by 1 a.m., but the crowd remained throughout,” he said.
The actor, who is currently shooting for a film called ‘Beedi’ in Kodaikanal, said that pattimandrams give him the opportunity to learn from the other speakers, who quote from literature and the epics.
“Before I go to a pattimandram, I too do my homework, take down notes and discuss with the other speakers the points I make,” he said. His next pattimandram is at Edayanchavadi, near Puducherry, on June 2.
