Music highlights

The film has a number of firsts to its credit. The cover of the audio CD contains the names of the instrumentalists and the instruments they have played against each song which is something unusual. Kamal and Vairamuthu have written two songs each. ‘Vishwaroopam,’ the title song penned by Vairamuthu and sung by Suru Jagan, is lively. Kamal and Benny Dayal have rendered with verve ‘Thuppaki Engal Tholile,’ again by Vairamuthu. Kamal Haasan has written and sung ‘Unnai Kaanadhu Naan’ along with Shankar Mahadevan; you can’t help listening to it again and again. ‘Anu Vidhaitha Boomiyile,’ sung by him again with Nikhil D’Souza, is a beautiful song. The soundtrack ends with a trendy remix of the title number by Shane Mendonsa.

What they say…

Director, co-producer and hero Kamal Haasan: I feel the film has come out in the best possible way. It does not degrade any religion, cast or creed. I wanted to do something different and those who have seen the film have appreciated my work. I’m sure it will evoke the same response from the audience.

Music directors Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy: We were thrilled when we got the phone call from Kamal. We started work straightaway. Each song was demanding, and with Kamalji around we were able to finish composing soon. He explained the song situations so well that we were able to come up with the right tunes. All credit should go to him.
