When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Actor Shaam, who has often stolen the hearts of his fans as a chocolate boy hero, is on a new mission. The actor, along with director V.Z. Dhorai, hopes to stun audiences into silence with his next film, 6 .

“The film has intense scenes which provide immense scope for performance and that was the reason I chose this script when I wanted to do a hard-hitting film,” begins Shaam. “I play a character called Ram, a software guy. Director Dhorai has presented three stages of this character’s life in this film. In the first 25 minutes, you will find Ram to be a fun-loving person. The next part will showcase him as a mature man. Finally, the character gets a completely different look. I lost over 15 kg for the last one.” The poster of 6 has generated a lot of interest and people are curious to know more about the film. “It is simple story with a wonderful screenplay. I am amazed how people are coming up with their own versions of the story. The film is based on real-life incidents. The hero needs to solve a big problem and moves around six cities for the same. Experience has given me the confidence to perform this kind of a role. It’s going to be an emotional trip,” says Shaam.

Poonam Kaur plays a fun-loving girl in the film but she also has a mature part and Shaam says she has handled both brilliantly. The actor is all praise for Anil Murali who is being introduced as a villain. Shaam has always been considered as an actor with excellent potential but he hasn’t been in the limelight for some time. “That is because I wasn’t finding the kind of scripts I was looking for. It was then that my brother Nijam said that he would produce a film and asked me to look for a script. When Dhorai approached me with this story, I thought this was the kind of film I would want to do. Dhorai is very sensitive about certain issues and his sensitivity and sensibility come across in the film too.”

The film has music by Srikanth Deva. There are five songs in the film. Shaam, meanwhile, seems to have created a space for himself in Telugu. The actor is now working on a film titled

Action . Shaam is better known as ‘Kick’ Shaam in the Telugu film industry because of the role he played in his debut Telugu film ‘Kick’.

“I have been offered the same role in the Tamil and Kannada remakes of the film. There is Hindi version too coming up in which Salman Khan is supposed to play the lead. The film has given me a big kick in life,” laughs Shaam.
