CBI challenges Special Court’s order in BSNL exchange case

January 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Madras High Court on Friday ordered notice in the BSNL exchange case on a petition by the CBI that challenged an order of the Special Judge for CBI cases rejecting police custody for the three accused.

On January 27, the Principal Special Judge had rejected the CBI’s plea for custody of the three, V. Gowthaman, the then Additional Personal Secretary to former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran; S. Kannan, Chief Technical Officer of Sun TV Network and K.S. Ravi, an electrician with the group.

The Special Judge had said the investigating agency had not placed enough materials warranting custodial interrogation of the accused.
