Camps for inclusion of names in poll rolls on Oct. 30 and Nov. 6

Special camps for inclusion of names in the electoral roll will be held on October 30 and November 6 in the city.

The Chennai Corporation on Monday released the draft electoral roll of special summary revision 2012 for 16 Assembly constituencies in the city.

A press release said the applications for inclusion, including for those who would complete 18 years on January 1, 2012, deletion and correction would be available in the Corporation zonal offices or designated polling booths.

The last date for submitting the applications, with necessary documents, is November 8.

In Chennai district, the release said, there are a total of 31,89,348 voters of which 15,99,236 are male, 15,89,731 are female and there are 381 in the others category.

506 transgenders in rolls

Names of 506 transgenders appear in the draft electoral rolls of Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts released recently by the respective District Election Officers in view of the special summary revision of electoral rolls announced by the Election Commission.

According to official sources, while 278 transgenders have been listed in the electoral rolls of 10 Assembly constituencies coming under Tiruvallur Revenue District, the names of 228 transgenders appear in the voter list of 11 Assembly constituencies in Kancheepuram Revenue District under others category.

In all 24,23,891 names of eligible voters (male, female and others) appear in the draft electoral roll released by the Tiruvallur DEO and Collector Ashish Chatterjee. As per the list released by Kancheepuram DEO and Collector S.Sivashanmuga Raja there are 25,94,070 voters.

Applications for deletion, change in address / constituency or for correction in the details printed on the EPIC should be submitted on or before November 8 along with supporting documents to the booth-level officers, tahsildars, Municipal commissioners or Revenue Divisional Officers of their respective areas, sources in the two districts said.
