Call taxi driver found dead in car

A 29-year-old call-taxi driver was found dead in a car parked on Cathedral Garden Road in Teynampet on Monday morning.

According to the police, Muthupandi was a resident of Janani Nagar in Kundrathur and lived with his wife Divya and their one-year-old child. He worked for a call taxi company in the city.

On Sunday evening, after dropping a customer, Muthupandi parked the car on Cathedral Garden Road. The police suspect he consumed alcohol and slept in the vehicle. He failed to answer phone calls from his wife and the car’s owner, the police said.

Narayasamy, a watchman for a private company on the road, noticed the car parked in the same spot since Sunday night. On Monday morning, he knocked on the window of the car. As Muniyandi did not respond, he informed the police.

“There are no injuries on his body, but his shirt appears soiled. He may have fallen after consuming alcohol. We have sent the body for post-mortem,” said a officer attached to Teynampet police station.
