January 16, 2014 09:11 am | Updated May 13, 2016 09:47 am IST - CHENNAI:

‘God’s Donkey’, a book on Sister Mary Theodore, an Australian-born nun who came to India and founded MITHRA, a centre for differently-abled, was launched here on Wednesday.

Bishop of Mavelikkara Joshua Mar Ignathios who launched the book said, “She was someone who could manage the herculean task of constantly supporting the differently-abled children and console their parents during difficult times.”

Peter Gale, author of the book who works as a professor at University of South Australia, said his association with Sister Mary started decades ago when his father came to Chennai on an official assignment. “She was only 24 when she left Australia and for 51 years she stayed here. When she passed away sometime ago, we all tried to recollect her achievements and I hope I captured some of that in my book. I want the proceeds of this book to go to MITHRA,” Mr. Gale said.
