Arms in Chennai central armoury in order: Army

The Army on Monday said there was no discrepancy in the arms and ammunition held by it in the Island Ground area in Chennai and all of them were checked and found to be correct.

The Army said it was extending full cooperation to the investigating agency in Chennai, which was probing the death of 13-year-old Dilson.

The boy was allegedly shot dead by a security guard on Sunday when he was climbing a tree to pluck a fruit inside the defence residential complex on Flag Staff House Road.

Physical checks

“Physical checks of all service and private weapons kept in the Central Kot [armoury] at St. George were carried out and no discrepancy has been found. All arms and ammunition held in the Island Ground [area] have been physically checked and found to be correct,” Army officials here said. All Army personnel who may be required by the city police in connection with investigation into the case would appear before the probe officials, the Army officials said.
