Anti-social elements nabbed

The Kannagi Nagar police nabbed a history-sheeter and his associates during a vehicle inspection on Saturday night.

Nine anti-social elements were detained by a special team formed by the police.

A senior police official said Mulla alias S. Sivakumar, 28, a resident of Kannagi Nagar, had been terrorising the residents in the locality, along with his associates.

Double murder

They were also involved in a double murder in 2016. There was also rivalry with some other groups in Pudupet and Teynampet. The gang was also involved in the sale of ganja, he added.

Those arrested include, Kicha alias S. Krishnamorthi, 35; N. Jahier, 20; A. Asvinth Kumar, 25; J. Nadarajan, 20; M. Vengatesan, 36; E. Kalidass, 23; A. Jansi, 19; and A. Ammu, 26.
