Allegations lead to removal

The removal of Minister ‘Agri’ S.S. Krishnamoorthy from the Cabinet on Saturday followed his ouster from a key party post on Thursday. This comes in the wake of Opposition parties’ allegations that he exerted pressure on an Agriculture Department engineer who committed suicide.

The Hindu on February 23 reported the suicide of engineer S. Muthukumarasamy, who threw himself before a speeding train and the police investigation, which revealed that the official took the extreme step under pressures from a “highly influential person.”
