The AIADMK general council and executive committee meeting will be held on Thursday at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Centre’s grounds at Thiruvanmiyur, instead of a wedding hall at Vanagaram.
In a brief statement AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa asked all invitees to attend the meeting without fail.
Roads leading to the venue in Thiruvanmiyur, including Kamarajar Salai, LB Road and a portion of the ECR, have been spruced up.

Kamarajar Salai has been completely re-laid after cold milling where about half a foot of the top layer of the road has been removed and fresh layer laid. Kerb stones are being painted along LB Road in Adyar by the Chennai Corporation.
The Highways Department has finished patch works on the ECR and is painting the median.
The Thiruvanmiyur venue is not new to the party, it has conducted mass weddings there and Ms. Jayalalithaa had presided over them. Party watchers recall how during party founder and former Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran’s time general body meetings were held at Sathya Studio on Durgabhai Deshmukh Road.

“Only the invitees would attend the meetings. But after the party split into two factions in 1987, cadres too began going to the venue in an apparent show of strength,” he said.
The meetings later moved to Hotel New Woodlands where both halls were taken up, then to Vijaya Mahals in Vadapalani, Raja Muthiah and Rani Meiyammai Halls in Egmore and then the Srivaaru Kalyana Mandapam in Vanagaram.
Hundreds of invites have been sent to various office-bearers including the party’s MPs, MLAs, Ministers, district secretaries, headquarters officer-bearers, those belonging to the 14 allied organisations, including MGR mandrams, Jayalalithaa Peravai, youth wing, farmers wing, IT wing and students wing.
