Actor ends life, partner held for abetment

A 21-year-old actor ended her life at her house in Perambur on Tuesday, where she had been living with her partner for the past two years, the police said.

The police said Mary Shiela Rani, from Tirupur, moved to Chennai five years ago. She did minor roles in films like Mannar Vagaiyara and Panchayat Patti, under the stage name Yashika. She got into a relationship with Mohanbabu, a college student, who worked in Vadapalani.

Mohanbabu left for Arakkonam due to a quarrel, following which the incident occurred. The Peravallur police arrested him for abetting suicide, based on a note the victim left behind.
