If you are a resident waiting anxiously for your Aadhaar card months after enrolment, there is a possibility the card may be lying in a city post office.
For over two months, thousands of letters containing the cards from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), without an address line indicating door numbers or street names, have been piling up in post offices, including those at Porur and Tiruvallur.
On Wednesday alone, the Triplicane post office received about 170 letters without proper addresses.

“Residents who have enrolled for Aadhaar cards may contact the nearby post office from where they regularly receive letters to check, and collect their cards. They will have to produce identity cards,” said Mervin Alexander, postmaster general, Chennai city region.
“We have also instructed all post offices that have got the cards to display the list of names on notice boards by this week,” he said, adding the department had communicated the issue to UIDAI.
“If we are unable to deliver the letters by April-end, we plan to return them to UIDAI,” Mr. Alexander said.
