A milestone celebration in his life

Sound engineer N. Seshadri will be celebrating his 100th birthday on August 2.

Legendary sound engineer, N. Seshadri, who has worked in more than 100 movies in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, will celebrate his 100 birthday on August 2.

Seshadri started his career as a cine audiographer in Bombay, and later worked as a Sound Engineer in Revathy Studios, Chennai. The ace audio technologist joined Vikram Studios, Chennai, in 1956 and worked till 1978. Later, he worked in Bhanumathi’s Bharani Studios, K.J. Yesudas’ Tharangini Studios, and Hema Malini’s Kathambari Studios.

“He has worked with legends such as M.G. Ramachandran, J. Jayalalithaa, K.V. Mahadevan, Sivaji Ganesan, N.T. Rama Rao, Nageshwara Rao, P.B. Sreenivas, T.M. Sounderajan, M.S. Vishwanathan, K. Balachander, AVM Saravanan, Illayaraja, K.J. Yesudas, S.P. Balasubramanian, Susheela and S. Janaki,” said his eldest son K.S. Nagaraj, who is cinematographer by profession.

One of the co-founders of Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) along with Nimay Ghosh and M.B. Srinivasan, Seshadri is associated in forming 24 crafts association, which is functioning under FEFSI.

“He has been elected as president, general secretary, vice-president and treasurer of FEFSI, and president, general secretary, vice-president and treasurer of Cine Technician Association four to five times. He was also the Jury for National Film Awards twice in 1970’s and 1980’s,” Mr. Nagaraj added. Some of his notable films include ‘Pattikattu Ponnaiya’, ‘Enippadigal’, ‘Poikkal Kuthirai’, ‘Nichaya Thamboolam’ in Tamil and ‘Amara Shilpi Jakkana’ in Telugu.
