As the task of mapping Kaverirajapuram village in Tiruvallur district, following allegations of land grabbing by Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court P.D. Dinakaran, is nearing completion, the Survey of India has asked the district administration to explain its views on February 15.
The survey team has completed 90 per cent of the field work and is likely to complete the remaining work later this week. The team, camping on Tiruvalangadu co-operative sugar factory campus, started the survey on January 8.
Intimation has been sent to Tiruvallur District Collector, Joint Commissioner land reforms, Additional Director panchayats, District Forest Officer and Vellore District Collector to present themselves before the three-member team headed by S. Sivakumar.

Similar intimation has been sent to Justice P.D. Dinakaran and his representatives. The local villagers, who were claiming rights over the lands, have also been asked to appear. All the sides will meet Survey of India officials at the camp in Tiruvalangadu.
In the meantime, Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam, affiliated to the CPI (M), announced that it would organise picketing on February 10 in front of the District Collector office urging the government to distribute the encroached lands to the landless Dalits and poor.
General Secretary of the sangam P. Shanmugam told The Hindu that his organisation had been denied permission by the police.

“But we will go ahead with our plan. Why should the government delay distributing the lands when the Collector himself has submitted a report stating that more than 190 acres were under the possession of Mr Dinakaran,” he said.
