TV channel receives threat

The office of the Jaya TV network received a threat letter on Friday warning the channel not to telecast any programmes relating to the murder of DMK leader Tha. Kiruttinan.

In his complaint to the Director General of Police, K.P. Sunil, vice-president – news, Jaya TV, said it was the second letter received by the television channel. The first letter was received on August 28 and a complaint had already been filed.

It poses a threat to the life of Jayalalithaa, the leader of opposition and to the concept of media's freedom, he said. He sought adequate enhancement of security cover for Ms. Jayalalithaa and security arrangements for the Jaya TV office.
