SHRC calls for report on water contamination

The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has ordered the Chennai Corporation Commissioner and the CMWSSB Managing Director to send a report with regard to a news item in The Hindu about complaints of sewage mixing with drinking water in various parts of Triplicane in the city. Taking suo motu cognisance of the report in The Hindu published on March 5, the SHRC Chairperson, Justice A.S.Venkatachalamoorthy, said the two officials should send a report within three days.
