June 12, 2010 02:13 am | Updated 02:13 am IST - CHENNAI:

LTTE leader V. Prabakaran's mother Parvathi Ammal can stay at her daughter's residence in Chennai and undergo treatment, the Centre has informed the Tamil Nadu government.

The Centre, however, said she would not be allowed to meet representatives of any political parties, but friends and relatives can call on her.

The Centre's decision follows the State government's nod to Ms. Parvathi Ammal's stay at her daughter's residence. The Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka has also been informed about the Centre's decision.

Subsequently, on May 18, a letter was sent to the State government on her behalf, seeking permission to stay in Chennai at her daughter's residence. The Tamil Nadu government had told the Centre that it had no objection to the proposal.

The State government will take a further decision in this regard after getting the response from Ms. Parvathi Ammal, the release added.
