A sense of shock pervaded the mortuary of the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital where the body of 24-year-old S. Swathi, the techie who was murdered at the Nungambakkam Railway Station on Friday morning, had been brought in for post-mortem examination at 11 a.m.
Clad in a shirt and dhoti, Swathi’s father Santhanagopalakrishnan was inside the mortuary, waiting for the body to be brought out.
Outside, Swathi’s family and friends waited, alongside mediapersons.

“I dropped Swathi off at the station and returned home, and within a short while, the police were at my door. We have no idea who did this. We are such a close-knit family. There were no problems of any kind that we knew of,” he said.
“This was a complete shock,” said an employee of Infosys’s HR department, who, along with an employee of the security department, too had come. “We came to know of the incident through television,” he said.
By around 4.30 p.m., the post-mortem examination had been completed, and the body was brought out. As camerapersons crowded around, a relative appealed to the media to give the family privacy.

“We respect journalists but please let us have some privacy now. We have told you everything you wanted to know,” he said.
Relatives said the cremation would be held on Friday itself.
