Lugging shopping bags stuffed with designer salwar suits, saris and jewellery, women made their way towards free make-over section to do-up dishevelled hair and spruce up smudged mascaras.
After several rounds of shopping at a wide range of stalls, the visitors came out with slimmed-down purses but contented heart. For, the proceeds from the exhibition will be contributed to a social cause.
‘Meena Bazaar,’ the two-day exhibition organised by the Rajasthan Cosmo Club Foundation at Hotel Accord Metropolitan, seeks to encourage women entrepreneurs across the country. The proceeds of the exhibition, which got under way on Wednesday, will go towards the Cloth Bank Project of the Foundation.

Sanjay Bhansali, a member of the Club said one million items of clothing and 80,000 school uniforms had been distributed by the organisation so far.
The exhibition showcased 92 stalls and has two designer pavilions. The pavilions had an ensemble of designers from Lucknow, Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Hyderabad who had displayed salwar suits, saris and lehengas . There was also a vibrant collection of jewellery, gifts, designer cards, packaging, home furnishing and accessories.
Leading boutique stores from Chennai sourced in their dresses and makers of diamonds displayed exquisite uncut diamond jewellery and watches.

Sandwiched between clothes and jewellery stalls were a couple of stalls that drew people with an overwhelming aroma of homemade chocolates. There were extensive choices for those who planning their wedding. Wedding utilities such as cards, gift bags and decorative plates were part of the display.
A painting competition was conducted as part of the exhibition. Free makeover, foot therapy, nail art, sari draping demos and mehndi were offered. Actor Jyotika inaugurated the exhibition and designer Rehane participated.
