Mayor inspects Metrowater work

The works taken up by the Chennai Metrowater in five of its zones will be completed by this year.

On Monday, Mayor M. Subramanian inspected the progress of work to construct an overhead tank, underground sumps at the Kilpauk water treatment plant and laying of pipeline at a cost of Rs.51 crore.

A press release from Chennai Corporation said the project, to ensure equitable water distribution, was being implemented at K.K. Nagar, Triplicane, Southern head works and Anna Poonga (Mint).

The total cost is estimated at Rs.337.48 crore.

Municipal Administration and Water Supply Principal Secretary Niranjan Mardi, Metrowater Managing Director Shiv Das Meena, Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni and other officials were also present.
