The Chennai Corporation on Friday started its massive fogging operations for mosquito control.

Inaugurating the operations, Mayor M. Subramanian said that around 8.5 lakh houses were being covered in all 10 zones in a single day. Fogging was carried out in 3,300 km of roads in the city at the same time. A total of 1,500 workers were deployed for the fogging operations.

Mr. Subramanian urged the residents to cooperate with workers. Pamphlets on mosquito control were also distributed to residents by Corporation workers. The workers also collected 42,000 pieces of waste material, including tyres and plastics that stored rainwater and served as temporary breeding ground for mosquitoes.
