Rohit Subramanian just did not want boring Monday mornings and had this strong urge to ride on long empty roads, wake up in a different place everyday, taste varied cuisine and meet all kinds of people.
An Adambakkam resident, Rohit has been living his dream for the past 150 days. “I always wanted to travel the world. I have been all around the country except for Sikkim, Andamans and Lakshadweep. I have come across many interesting people in my journeys, sold ice cream, worked as a mechanic and sold tea and vada pav. It has been fun,” said the 22-year-old.
During his trips, he has slept at homes of people who offered him shelter when he knocked their doors, petrol pumps, bus shelters and even police lockups.

Now at home after a 32,000-km trip around the country, he is getting ready for a Europe tour.
Many people know his trademark beard and Sandra — his sand-coloured 500 cc Royal Enfield motorcycle.
An alumnus of Ashram School, Rohit says he grew a beard to look more responsible and grown up. The Lone Wanderer, as he is known on Facebook, has a sponsor for his beard!

“When I wrote to companies seeking sponsors for my trip, I told them I had a beard and something clicked and they agreed to sponsor it. Ustraa, a Delhi-based oil company, sponsors my beard,” he says.
Rohit was able to crowdsource Rs. 5 lakh for his travels. He has a blog, gives live updates everyday, and plans to bring out a book.
