Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S. Ramadoss has demanded a printed receipt for those casting their vote using electronic voting machines during elections, similar to those issued by ATMs.

“When 35 international experts from various nations, including India, Germany, the Netherlands and the US were questioning the sanctity of the EVMs, will the Chief Election Commissioner of India Navin Chawla prove beyond doubt that EVMs cannot be tampered with, before experts,” Dr. Ramadoss asked.

He said developed countries were reverting to ballot papers to maintain transparency in elections. Hence, the Election Commission of India should think afresh regarding usage of EVMs in general elections and prove its trustworthiness to the general public.

He asked AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa to reveal the content of two letters she had received from the CEC inviting her for the silver jubilee celebrations in New Delhi as it would allay the suspicion of political parties regarding the speculation of her meeting with the Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Mr. Ramadoss reiterated his demand for drought relief to the people of five districts.
