: Leader of the Opposition and DMK treasurer, M.K. Stalin, on Thursday termed the Governor’s address to the Assembly as “ Amma calendar” (a compendium hailing the Chief Minister) and said no proper seating arrangement had been made for party president M. Karunanidhi to attend House proceedings.
Interacting with reporters outside the Assembly, Mr. Stalin said the Governor’s address did not talk about pressing issues facing the people nor it had elaborated on policies to set right those issues.
“Overall, if I want to comment about this address, I would like to say it was like an ‘Amma calendar’,” he added, pointing to the mention of various ‘Amma’ brand welfare schemes mentioned by Governor K. Rosaiah.

Mr. Stalin said while the government has expressed its willingness to revive Nokia and Foxconn factories in Sriperumbudur, it should not be forgotten that it was under the same administration that the companies left Tamil Nadu.
Asked if proper seating arrangements were made for Mr. Karunanidhi to attend the proceedings, he said despite making representations to the Speaker, the seat provided to the leader was not suitable for his use. Mr. Karunanidhi has been allotted seat No. 207, which is situated a row behind the seat of the Leader of Opposition.
He also added that the convention of prioritising seats for former Ministers and MLAs who have been elected multiple times had been given up.

Some former Ministers of the DMK like K. Ponmudy and E.V. Velu were given seats in the back rows.
Meanwhile, PMK founder S. Ramadoss, in a statement, claimed the Governor’s address had nothing more than statements celebrating Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
