A man, whose son was found buried along the shores in Neelankarai on Wednesday, committed suicide by hanging at Kasimedu on Thursday. He left a suicide note claiming that his son had committed suicide and he buried the body in the beach.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Thoraipakkam) K.N. Murali, E. Ravi (40) of Nainarkuppam was found hanging from a tree near the Kasimedu fishing harbour. Ravi claimed in the note that his friends came home for lunch on Sunday. Shortly after they left, Dileep, his son, hanged himself from the ceiling using a sari.

“After burying the body, Ravi decided to commit suicide. The rope snapped twice and he did not have money to buy a new rope...he then found a rope and hanged himself from the tree. The post-mortem report has indicated that Dileep committed suicide,” Mr. Murali said.
