Centre for culinary arts

The Consul General of France in Puducherry, Pierre Fournier, inaugurated the La Boulangerie Centre for Production and Culinary Arts here on Wednesday.

According to a press release, the Cafe La Boulangerie, attached to the La Boulangerie Centre for Production and Culinary Arts, was inaugurated by Clotilde Siara Sauerteig, wife of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chennai. La Boulangerie is a chain of French bakery outlets in the city.

According to D. Sudhakara Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of La Boulangerie, the production unit would cater to the needs of all its outlets in the city, while the culinary institute would start functioning from December. “Hygiene, best of raw materials, 7,000 sq ft spacious area and equipment sourced from France are the highlights of the new centre,” he said.

The institute would offer short-term and long-term course in bakery and confectioners, with the programme affiliated to the International Institute of Culinary Arts, New Delhi.
