Call to contribute to development of Orissa

Orissa Higher Education, Tourism and Culture Minister, Debi Prasad Mishra, on Sunday called on professionals including scientists and engineers to contribute to an overall development of Orissa and make it one of the leading States in the country.

Delivering the special address at the 74th Utkal Dibas and annual day function organised by the Utkal Association of Madras, he urged organisers to conduct roadshows in various parts of the country to showcase the strength of Orissa and success stories of its businessmen to attract investments.

“Orissa is all set to surpass the growth rate of the country in spite of global recession, thanks to proactive measures taken by the government. We have achieved excellence in every sphere of life ; become our partner,” he said.

Socio-cultural complex

Association president Khirod Kumar Jena said that they are in the process of constructing a socio-cultural complex on a half-acre land adjacent to Jagannatha temple on ECR Road in Kanathur. “It will be built at a cost of Rs. 5 crore within the next two to two-and-a-half years. The complex will have the temple's kitchen, conference room, library and guests rooms,” he said.

As part of the celebrations, a cultural show was also conducted.
