The CPI(M) on Monday ruled out the possibility of joining the DMK-led alliance for the April 13 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections even if there was a split in the DMK-Congress combine.
“There is no question of joining the DMK-led alliance. Even if the DMK does not go along with the Congress, there is no question of us joining them”, CPI (M) State Unit Secretary G. Ramakrishnan told PTI.
Mr. Ramakrishnan said his party was against the “neo-liberal and anti-people” policies of the Congress-led Central Government as well as the DMK government in Tamil Nadu and therefore, they would not align with the DMK.

His comments come a day after DMK President M. Karunanidhi had said there were chances of the Left parties joining the DMK-led alliance.
Mr. Ramakrishnan said the seat sharing modalities with opposition AIADMK were being worked out but declined to elaborate.
DMK on March 5 announced it was pulling out of the Union Cabinet and would provide issue-based support to the UPA government in the Centre following the breakdown in seat sharing talks between Congress and DMK.
