CEO tells students to play active role to ensure fair polls

Calling for the active participation of youth, especially students, in ensuring a free and fair electoral process during the forthcoming Assembly polls in the State, Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni on Friday encouraged students to send him pictures or details if they came across any incidents of foul play in the electoral process.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign, ‘Electoral Integrity,’ at Ethiraj College for Women here, Mr. Lakhoni shared his mobile number (9840433055) with the students and urged them to bring to his notice any foul play in the electoral process.

The students could dial 1950 or send the details of the EPIC number to 9444123456 to check whether their names are registered in the electoral roll or to check the details of polling booths.

Senior IAS officer U. Sagayam, who spoke at the function, shared his experience while conducting the polls in Madurai district.

Retired bureaucrat M.G. Devasahayam, former Vice Chancellor Vasanthi Devi, Ethiraj College Chairman Mike Muralitharan, Satta Panchayat Iyakkam’s Senthil Arumugam, A. Subramanian and social activist Abdul Ghani spoke.
