Bomb hoax at Koyambedu market

Police officers went on high alert at the Koyambedu vegetable wholesale market after a bomb threat was received at the headquarters of the city police on Monday night.

A senior officer of the city police said an email from an unknown source was received at the police headquarters with a message that bombs would go off at the vegetable market. The police control room immediately alerted personnel at the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), who thoroughly combed the market and terminus but found no bombs.

The officer said the case had been referred to the Central Crime Branch.
