Co-optex seems to be cashing in on the recent trends in cotton saris. The ‘Summer cotton sari exhibition,' which got under way here on Wednesday, has stocked up a good number of saris sans zaris and elaborate thread works.
The array of saris has minimal border and pallu works, making them a good pick for working women and college goers. Saris from Salem, Madurai and Coimbatore dominate the exhibition.
Salem saris, priced between Rs.620 and Rs.750, stand apart from the rest for their distinctive colour combinations.

Jayankondam saris are for those who have an eye for intricate designs. They come in stunning gold prints, with a price range of Rs. 625 to Rs. 800.
Eco-lovers can pick Coimbatore's organic saris, which come with a promise of environmental friendly dyes.
The price for these saris starts at Rs.1640. Saris from Paramakudi, Woraiyur, Aruppukottai and Sirumugai are also part of the expo.

Inaugurating the expo, Handlooms Minister K.K.S.S.R.Ramachandran said a multinational designing unit at Coimbatore for export materials would be set up shortly.
Co-optex has made a business of Rs.180 crore in the last financial year, with a profit of Rs.20 crore.
A slew of functions and exhibitions are on the anvil, marking the coral jubilee celebrations of Co-optex. The exhibition is being held at its Vanavil showroom, Teynampet.
