A 25-year-old man was electrocuted on Monday evening when he held on to a lamp post in Taramani when it was raining heavily.
Police said the incident took place on GT Salai, when Mohan, a resident of Perungudi, was returning home after supplying drinking water cans on his tricycle to an IT firm in Taramani.
He suffered an electric shock after his tricycle hit a median and he grabbed the lamp post to prevent a fall. Mohan died on the spot, police added.
