November 16, 2012 02:00 am | Updated 02:00 am IST - CHENNAI:

A second-year student of an engineering college is undergoing treatment for dengue at a private hospital in Selaiyur, Tambaram.

The 19-year-old girl, a resident of Rajakilpakkam, was suffering from fever for more than two days and was brought to a private clinic in Selaiyur, on Thursday. Suspecting that she might have dengue, a team of doctors and staff belonging to the clinic contacted the upgraded primary health centre in Medavakkam.

Government doctors and paramedical staff collected a blood sample and medical tests proved that the girl was suffering from dengue. Following this, the girl was kept in isolation at the clinic. Her immediate family and neighbours were administered anti-dengue vaccine.
