Fugitive held

A 24-year old suspect in a theft case, who had escaped from the Madurantakam sub-jail a few days ago, was nabbed from a hideout in Besant Nagar on Sunday.

Karthik (24) was in jail on charges of stealing property from a house in Acharapakkam. A few days ago, he escaped from prison during lunch.

“We tracked his wife’s mobile phone and then found out that he was hiding in a place in Besant Nagar,” said a senior police officer. Two wardens of the sub-jail are under suspension in connection with the escape, he added.
