Buttermilk booths launched

The traffic police on Wednesday launched buttermilk booths for those on traffic duty and for the general public. Deputy Commissioner of police (Traffic) S. Saravanan inaugurated the booth at Ther Nilai Thidal, near Raja Street.

Senior officers said that buttermilk was served to more than 1,500 people on the first day from 10.15 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Policemen on duty at traffic units were given packaged tender coconut water.

Traffic Inspector (West) K.V. Sathasivem said that money required for the initiatives was raised from within the department. The buttermilk booth will be stationed at Sinthamani junction on Thursday.

Mr. Amalraj on Wednesday handed over a new two-wheeler to the traffic police for patrol near Mettupalayam bus stand.
