Woman murdered at home in Siddapura

Daughter-in-law was sleeping in another room

A 42-year-old woman was found murdered at her home in Siddapura on Saturday.

Police said that the crime came to light when the domestic help came to the house at 4.30 p.m. and found the door ajar. On entering the hall, she found the victim, Pushpa, lying in a pool of blood with cuts on her stomach and neck.

Saroja alerted Pushpa’s daughter-in-law who was asleep in another room. According to the police, neither Pushpa’s relatives nor her neighbours heard anything unusual. The family, which hails from Sirsi, had been living in the rented house for 18 years. Pushpa’s husband, V.K. Natarajan and her son run a tyre business. The police said that the duo had gone to a nearby shop when the murder took place. Her daughter-in-law, who is pregnant, had retired to her room with her daughter earlier in the afternoon.

The victim’s jewellery was untouched and no other valuables were missing. “The door of the house is made of glass with a steel frame. It is usually kept bolted. Only known persons are allowed inside,” a police officer said.Police suspect that the culprit could be someone known to the family.
