A 33-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in her house in J.P. Nagar in the City on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H.S. Revanna told reporters that Jyothi Lakshmi, a single woman, working in the Human Resource (HR) Department of a private firm in J.P. Nagar, was found lying on the floor of her bedroom with stab injuries in her neck and stomach.

Her 5-year-old daughter was also found lying in an unconscious state on the floor of the bedroom. She has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

The woman had separated from her husband about two years ago, police said.

Though the murder is suspected to have taken place on Thursday night, it came to light only on Friday morning after Jyothi Lakshmi's father Narasaiah grew concerned over his calls to his daughter going unreceived.

He called the neighbours, who went into Jyothi Lakshmi's house situated on the second floor of a three-storey building and found her dead.

"No valuables appear to have been stolen", Revanna added. Police have booked a case and are investigating.
