Maintaining that the Kempanna Judicial Commission, which is looking in to denotification of Arkavathi layout lands, would not serve any purpose as the fate of various judicial commissions had showed that the government may not act on its report, former minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday demanded that the commission should be wound up.
“Instead, the denotification issue should be taken directly before the courts if one is genuinely interested in getting justice and bringing the guilty to books”, he suggested while addressing a press conference in Bengaluru.
He demanded a public debate involving stalwarts like former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde and freedom fighter H.S. Doreswamy on the measures to be taken with respect to denotification.

Pointing out that the government was dilly-dallying over implementation of the Justice Padmaraj Commission’s report on violations in allocation of G-category sites by the Bengaluru Development Authority, he remarked, “if those who got 60 X 40 sites under G category can pressurise the government against acting on the Padmaraj commission, do you think that the big land developers who have been benefitted by the denotification will not bring pressure on the government to ignore the Kempanna commission report”.
Observing that it would require more than 300 days for the Kemappanna commission to study the massive documents running into one lakh pages submitted by the BDA, he said it would be a burden on the tax payers to continue this commission by spending Rs. five to six lakh a month when nothing much was expected from it.
