Two techies killed in hit and run

Two pedestrians, both IT professionals, were killed in a hit and run when they were crossing the Varthur Main Road on Wednesday morning.

HAL Airport police said the deceased are Pradeep Raju (24), a Tata Consultancy Services employee, and Vigneshwaran (24).

Police said that Vigneshwaran, a resident of Tamil Nadu, had come to the city early morning and was received by Raju, who lives near Munekolalu. While they were crossing the road near the Spice Garden bus-stop, an unknown vehicle hit them, killing them on the spot.

The police are trying to trace the driver and the vehicle.

Byatrayanapura

A pedestrian — a senior citizen — died when she was run over by a water tanker in Bapuji Nagar on Wednesday morning.

The Byatrayanapura police said Sunandamma (75) was on her way to pick up her grandson from his school when the tanker hit her from behind, and its rear wheel ran over her body.

The police have seized the vehicle and are working to track down the driver who is absconding.

7 years for robbery

Seven persons got seven years’ rigorous imprisonment for a Rs. 37 lakh robbery in 2010.

The 17th Sessions Court also fined Dileep Kumar and his six associates Rs.10,000 each.

The gang had barged into one Srinivas’s house in Chamrajpet on June 13, 2010 and robbed the family after threatening them.
