Two students jump from the second floor of their college

They had been caught attending class after consuming alcohol

Two first-year B.Com. students sustained multiple injuries after jumping from the second floor of a private college in Jalahalli on Monday afternoon. The duo — aged 19 and 20 years — had allegedly attended class that afternoon after consuming alcohol.

“Their classmates, after smelling the liquor on them, complained to the teacher who alerted the principal. The two students were summoned to the principal's chamber and their parents were called,” said a senior police officer.

According to sources, at the meeting, the students were counselled and were warned that they would face disciplinary action if they came to class inebriated.

“Witnesses said that after the meeting, one of the students ran to the second floor of the the college and jumped from the corridor to the ground floor. The other student followed him before the security staff could intervene,” the officer added.

They are currently being treated at M.S. Ramaiah Hospital where the are recovering from multiple injuries. The college authorities told the police that both students had good attendance. “One of the boys said that he was facing pressure from his parents. After talking to his friend about it, they both got drunk. We are yet to question the other boy,” said the police.
