A businessman from Hosapete in Ballari, who had come to attend his sister’s house warming ceremony in Peenya, was robbed by a gang of three armed men in the early hours of Friday. The men barged into the house, beat up the victim and made away with valuables.

Srinivas and his family were sleeping in the second floor of the newly constructed house in Annapoorneshwari Nagar after the ceremony. Srinivas had kept the front door open to beat the heat. It was at around 3 a.m. that a gang of armed men barged into the house and attacked Srinivas. They made away with a mobile, tab and a vanity bag, which contained a gold chain, five gold rings and ₹4,600 in cash. The Peenya police have taken up a case and are investigating.

Manjunath, employed in Deepa Condiments in Dasarahalli, was on his way to work when a duo on a scooter intercepted him, beat him up and made away with his mobile, silver chain and ₹ 500 in cash.
