Two policemen suspended

Published - November 23, 2014 01:19 am IST - Bengaluru

Two traffic police personnel attached to the Kempegowda International Airport police station were suspended for allegedly extorting commuters.

Sub Inspector Narayan Swamy and Assistant Sub Inspector Gangarudraiah have been accused of extorting money and demanding bribe, especially from truck drivers. They would stop trucks travelling from Devanahalli, Vijayapura and Chickballapur towards the city, usually between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., to verify documents. A motorist, who observed this, secretly filmed the police personnel extorting them on the pretext of violations and made a CD which he submitted to senior traffic police officials following which the duo were suspended on Saturday.
