Traffic police launch app for auto and cab commuters

March 20, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - Bengaluru:

The traffic police on Saturday launched bSafe, a mobile app to ensure the safety of commuters using taxis and autorickshaws. In case of an emergency, commuters can press the panic button, in which case the vehicle will be tracked by the nearest police station through GPS, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Traffic) C.K. Baba.

Citizen-centric initiative

M.A. Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said the app is a citizen-centric initiative by the Bengaluru traffic police.

It will also help customers know their routes and exact fare. Commuters can rate the driver to help other commuters.

Traffic police routinely receive complaints about autorickshaw drivers refusing to ply, demanding excess fare or misbehaving with commuters.

The app has been designed to address such grievances. It has an option for customers to key in the vehicle registration number and lodge complaints.

The app is available on both Android and iOS operating systems. Commuters can log on to the app and switch on the GPS as soon as they board the autos or cab.
