Trader kidnapped, released after ransom is paid

A city-based scrap dealer, who was allegedly kidnapped by a group of four persons, was released after payment of ransom on Thursday night.

Subbaiah of Judicial Layout in Hebbal, was returning home after recovering a loan from his relative in Gouribidanur. When he reached Kantanakunte, the kidnappers intercepted his car, abducted him and took him to an isolated place, the police said. The kidnappers then sought a ransom of Rs. 15 lakh. “The family members brought down ransom amount to Rs. 2.5 lakh and the money was taken to the kidnappers by one of the relatives. The kidnappers soon escaped with the cash in another car,” the police said.
