Three railway personnel help avert major train mishap

A major mishap was averted by a three-member team attached to Railway Protection Force, which detected a cut in the track minuted before the arrival of a passenger train during track patrolling duty between Cantonment and Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna City Railway Station on Tuesday.

Constables R.S. Sando, Chandramani and head constable Thirumalesh were on the patrolling duty on the tracks to keep an eye on thefts.

The trio noticed a cut on the track and alerted the senior section engineer and Station Manager, who rushed to the spot and confirmed that there was a breach and sounded a red alert.

Meanwhile TN 56507 (Marikuppam Passenger) had arrived at the Cantonment station and the train was stopped for over half-an-hour to allow the engineering department to address to the problem.

A.K. Gupta, General Manager, Western Railway, announced a cash reward of ₹5,000 to the RPF personnel for their commendable work.
